This workshop will prepare you to moderate community-wide dialogues on the Achievement Gap taking place throughout Central Texas. We are looking for young people and adults who reflect the diversity of the Central Texas region, including people bilingual in Spanish and English.
As a moderator, you...
- will receive training on how to facilitate community dialogues
- will lead three discussion sessions for a group of 8-10 people
- will help deepen your group's discussion and move forward using a discussion guide
- will help your group talk respectfully and productively
- won't join the conversation or offer an opinion
- don't have to be an expert on education issues
- receive a stipend of $100
To participate, you must:
- attend a training session led by Texas Forums and Austin Voices for Youth
- agree to moderate three forum sessions in the community of your choice
- work with a co-moderator
